I'm having somebody sublet my room in a house for a few months until the end of the lease. At signing, each roommate paid a share of the house security deposit. The house is currently in good condition; we would likely get most or all of the deposit back if it's kept this way. However, I am concerned that the subletter may cause damage during his stay. Is it usual to ask a subletter for a security deposit? What steps should I take to ensure that I get back the deposit that is owed to me as a responsible tenant?
