If he's attracted to me, why does trying so hard to act like a jerk

all the time, act rude and try to make me feel like i'm nothing special. This guy that i'm messing around with ( i know, dump him), he told me that he was very attracted to me, and that it was instant, we've been fooling around for awhile, but when we communicate, whether its through email, text or phone he act like a jerk, he'll say that'll leave you in an awe, make flippant apologies if i tell not to say such and such. We're both very ually attracted to each other, so he acts like, okay i want her so badly than at the same time, he's like let me be rude to her...
